Hello,
I'm pastor Grant Stevensen. I was called to serve St. Matthews as its pastor in December 1999. Prior to working here I have worked in Papua New Guinea, Southern Wisconsin and Taiwan, so the rich diversity of St. Paul has felt just right to me.

St. Matthews is a place where all of us, members, non members, and visitors are welcomed by God to hear God's word of Grace for our lives and to share in the meal of communion. This is God's house, and each of us has the opportunity to discover our gifts and grow in our faith. The community at St. Matthews is learning the tools of relationship building and community organizing. We are challenging each other to name our deepest values and then live by them.

We are growing in our understanding and ability to share this call across all generations. We are a community that likes to worship. The worship here is playfully serious with a growing diversity of musical styles in a liturgical tradition.

I hope that St. Matthews will, more and more be a beacon of God's love for our neighborhoods and for those who worship here. If it has been a while since you were in God's house, or if you have never been, God welcomes us all here.

Peace,
