ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) is the parent church of which St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is a part. The ELCA has over 5 million members in over 10,000 congregations, in 65 geographic areas through out the United States called synods.

The Saint Paul Area Synod is the governing body of the ELCA in the Saint Paul, Minnesota area. This synod provides administrative and educational support to the 120 churches and congregations in its service area.

The Gamaliel Foundation intends to be a powerful network of grassroots, interfaith, interracial, multi-issue organizations working together to create a more just and more democratic society. The organizations of the Gamaliel Network are vehicles that allow ordinary people to effectively participate in the political, environmental, social and economic decisions affecting their lives.
